Occupational Therapy is essentially the skills for the job of living. You and your child are the key players who will guide the goals of intervention. The process by which goals are achieved is viewed through the occupational therapy lens of the child's cognitive, physical and emotional competencies; the physical, social, and cultural environment; and the cognitive and physical demands of the activity. Creativity and innovation are among the many distinct features of occupational therapy. Community and home based therapy reflects the child's level of function in their most natural environment. This allows recommendations and strategies to be most effective and practical for your current day to day lifestyle and routine.
If you already have a full team or only seeking an occupational therapy assessment to identify specific areas of needs and concerns, I am happy to offer standardized assessments, functional assessments and/or consultation. Following the assessment, a comprehensive report will be provided to you; this report will outline your child's current level of function and specific occupational therapy recommendations tailored to your child. Examples of occupational therapy assessments include sensory processing, fine motor skills, gross motor skills, printing, keyboarding, executive functioning, cognition, feeding, and self-care.
